Welcome to Canfield Elementary |
Canfield Elementary is a neighborhood community school that celebrates diversity and reflects the racial, ethnic and socioeconomic make-up of Los Angeles. With approximately 400 students, our school is small enough to make sure that each child's needs are met, yet we are large enough to provide the extra enrichment and diversity that parents want for their children. Canfield Elementary is located at 9233 Airdrome Street, Los Angeles, CA 90035. Phone: 310-552-2525 |

Friends of Canfield is a non-profit organization that supports, enhances and enriches the educational environment of Canfield Avenue Elementary School. Our intention is to create an inclusive and dynamic environment where we celebrate the whole child, empowering them to discover themselves and find their own voice. We strive to expand social consciousness through an appreciation of other’s feelings, cultures, beliefs, morals and values. Friends of Canfield aims to model honest, open communication with one another, the principal, the teachers and the students. The mission of Friends of Canfield is to: 1) raise money to supplement staffing and resources not provided by the district as well as to fund extracurricular programs and activities; 2) positively recruit and respectfully treat our volunteers; and 3) celebrate our diversity by creating events that bring the community together. Friends of Canfield Programs and Activities |
|
Los Angeles Unified School District does not provide the resources or funding for many of the programs that are critical to the quality of our children's education. Therefore, Friends of Canfield, comprised mainly of Canfield parents, creates, sponsors and funds as many of these programs as possible. When you support Friends of Canfield by donating your time and money, you are directly contributing to your child's educational experience.
Among the programs sponsored by Friends of Canfield are SHINE, a mentoring and tutoring that supports student's academic needs, Poetry-in-Motion, student poetry workshops that culminate with students performing their poetry; and the Spring Musical which provides over 150 students with the opportunity to learn about theater and present an outstanding performance. |
