West LA has many excellent options for public middle schools. You'll hear lots of new terms, like Magnet schools, Charter schools, SAS, SLC, IHP, etc. Look to other parents and administrators for guidance. Ask a lot of questions. Go and see the schools for yourself, and with your 5th grade student. Advice: Apply to the school(s) that are the best fit for your child. Pay attention to the vibe. To prospective students: Do these kids look like kids you'd want to be friends with?Â
